Questions owners actually ask

What is my rate, really?

Most statements show a headline rate and then a page of fees. The number that matters is the effective rate: total fees divided by total card sales. The review gives you that number, and it is often not the one you were quoted.

Is my terminal too old?

If it swipes, has a phone-line dial-up, or cannot take a tap, you are paying more per transaction and your customers are waiting longer. That is usually the biggest single saving on a statement.

I run a restaurant with several tablets. Is that normal?

It is common, and it is where fees hide: each device can carry its own monthly charges. A review lists every device and what it costs.

Can a business with six months of statements get an advance?

Some processors offer an advance against future card sales after six months of statements, repaid as a percentage of each day's card sales rather than a fixed payment. Whether it makes sense depends entirely on your margin, and the review will say so plainly.

Who reads my statement?
